Sjöö Sandström

The art of manufacturing clocks and watches has a long and proud standing in Sweden. In the middle of the 19th century Swedish watchmaker Viktor Kullberg gained worldwide reputation for his pocket watches and naval chronometers. In keeping with the Swedish watch making tradition, Christer Sjöö and Mikael Sandström, two engineers with a genuine interest in watches, formed Sjöö Sandström Sweden AB in 1986. With a pioneering design they started to manufacture exclusive wristwatches produced from Swedish high quality steel. 1993 Sjöö Sandström introduced their first wristwatch, the Sjöö Sandström Automatic. This automatic timepiece, won the “Excellent Swedish Design” award in 1995. Today, being one of the very few independent watch manufactures in the world, Sjöö Sandström proudly remains one of the world’s most exclusive watchmakers. All the timepieces are hand assembled, one by one, and produced in small series at the workshop in the heart of Stockholm, The Old Town. Every timepiece is exhaustively tested prior to release. If it doesn’t make the grade, it doesn’t leave the workshop.
